A few years ago, I decided that I wanted a different Santa experience for my kids and for other little ones. I couldn't deal with the lines, the crowds, the malls, the pressure. Nothing about the experience was very fun or magical...I usually just felt sweaty and annoyed, and quite honestly, it ended up being quite anti-climactic for all parties involved.
So, I thought, why not bring Santa to my studio, create a calm, peaceful experience, and capture some beautiful images while I'm at it? And thus began my Santa mini-sessions!
This is from 2014, my first year of exclusive Santa mini-sessions. Finn was NOT going to take his eye off of Santa!
In case you're wondering what this entails, I'll give you the scoop: each family gets 20 minutes to spend with Santa exclusively at my gorgeous natural light studio in NE Mpls - time to warm-up, say hello, share a Christmas list, play with some toys, sing some songs, enjoy a cookie, and capture every type of moment. Are there tears? Absolutely! But are there smiles, too? ALWAYS! That's the point. If necessary, kids have enough time to move through their emotions. So, while there may be tears at first, there is plenty of time for little ones to also get comfortable and enjoy the magic of Santa!
I really can't imagine visiting Santa any other way now (and neither can several clients who are already booked for their fourth Santa session in 2017)!
